Artists' Comentary on this painting

"Blind Justice"

July 1986

Ira:        "Her scales gone, Lady Justice, blindly wields a knife, as a maimed and suffering humanity awaits her verdicts.

The background landscape whose wide bands of color evoke a flag, is a fitting  backdrop for this nationalistic pageant of horror and injustice."

Corliss:        "Ours has been a dialogue without need of outside approval.   We voice what we believe needs to be said."

Commentary from exhibition at the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California.
